The Importance of Textures In Dark Spaces

Dark colors and dense fabrics can cultivate a sensual design atmosphere in any type of space. Ashley explains what she likes about the lush style of this bedroom in a New Orleans home designed by Lee Ledbetter, as seen in Architectural Digest.

“The room is obviously dark, but the mirror over the bed instantly opens up the space. A design like this could easily feel heavy, but thanks to the white accents and starburst chandelier, it doesn’t.

The blue-toned shag rug creates even more textural effects to offset the dark walls, while the fireplace ties the entire space together into a modern look that is every bit as glamorous as it is contemporary.”
