Colorful Refinement of a Wesley Moon Design
Colorful Refinement of a Wesley Moon Design

When we learned that one of Wesley Moon’s gorgeous rooms – outfitted with several brilliant STARK floorings – would be featured in the latest issue of House Beautiful (out in newsstands now and available for download on iTunes and Amazon), we had to learn a little bit more. Further explore the rooms below and pick up your copy to gaze upon these sumptuous images.

The library, featuring a STARK broadloom carpet with a David Hicks pattern.

For this Park Avenue space, Wesley had one major directive: don’t steal the show from the artwork. “The client is an art collector so we wanted to make sure that we didn’t upstage the art,” Wesley explained.

In the living room – also pictured in the header – is a nettle and silk blend carpet bedecked with a gold silk border.

“No one thing screams out at you. It all hums together.”

The space is meant to be very relaxing; the goal was to keep it peaceful without sacrificing aesthetics. Proof that Wesley achieved this – beyond the obvious beauty seen in the photos, of course – is in one of the most interesting comments he has received about the space, which was, “How did you manage to keep it neutral but still use so much color?”

The dressing room floor features a custom-colored broadloom carpet, which was matched to a specific navy fabric.

The result is spaces that are interesting, but not jarring. “The rooms do flow, even though the color schemes change,” Wesley stated. From the lavender and greys of the living room to the blues of the bedroom, the progression of color ultimately comes together as a cohesive whole.

Wesley has designed spaces with STARK floorings ever since he got into the business of residential design in New York 15 years ago. With a great working relationship, Wesley often sources much of his custom pieces and broadloom carpets from STARK.

“I always go there because I know they’ve got what I need or can make it. Working with STARK is easy; they do so much in variety and volume and they can get things done faster.”
